day 12: The wonders of South Lipez
Today, departure at dawn to reach the geysers of Sol de Mañana.
Located at more than 4850 m of altitude, this geyser field is fed by an underlying volcanic activity. This is manifested by the presence of bubbling craters, fumaroles of sulfurous vapors and of course geysers of boiling water.
After this spectacle of the Earth, you will go back down to the thermal baths of Polques, where the volcanic activity presents a calmer face: thermal baths, characterized by a water rich in minerals, at a temperature of about 30ºC.
After the bathing, we will have a comforting breakfast to fight against the very low temperatures at this altitude.
Continuation of the visit to the Salar de Chalviri, populated by pink flamingos and ducks, under the benevolent gaze of the Licancabur volcano (5960 m).
You will also cross the Dali desert, which takes its name from its gigantic stones with strange shapes.
Then, arrival to the Laguna Verde, which owes the color of its waters to the important concentration of lead carbonate, sulfur, arsenic and calcium, color that changes according to the winds.
Return to Uyuni (or possibility of transfer to the city of San Pedro de Atacama in Chile).
Lunch included.
Dinner at leasure.
Night in Uyuni.
