Santo Domingo

It is one of the main churches of Cusco, along with those of the Plaza de Armas. Built by the Spaniards above the Qoricancha, an ancient Inca temple, it has been damaged several times by the earthquakes that regularly shake Cusco. It is very interesting to see that the Inca walls that support it have, as for them, almost not suffered, which testifies to the quality of the technical capacities of the Incas. In the cloisters, surrounded by beautiful frescoes representing the life of Saint Dominic, some vestiges of the Inca temple remain; the beautiful bell tower which overhangs the Qoricancha is majestic. The interior of the church is covered with different works of art and religious paintings. A very beautiful example of mixture between Inca and European architecture.
