Intihuatana

This is the most important, spectacular and significant place. Its name means “where the sun hangs on”. At the end of 78 steps, there is something that is called the astronomical observatory. Indeed, the vertical main stone with 1.80 m high would be a solar calendar used by the Inca to calculate stars movements and their consequences on harvesting. A little bit far, a carved stone with the shape of South Cross is very impressive when you know that during the summer solstice, the sun light crosses a hole in the center. Moreover, Intihuatana would be apparently aligned with other Incas Sacred Sites.
