It is said that Chinchero is the birth place of the rainbow. The visit of this nice and small village is recommended in any event: the colonial church that was built on Inca rests has a splendid ancestral painted ceiling. It is also surrounded by walls with big carved stones, typical of the Inca construction. On the main square there is also the museum of anthropology; although it is confined, it is interesting. Unchanging large terraces are extended outside of the village; they remain from a glory period. Below, in the valley, a wonderful bridge passes over Urubamba River; the walk between the maize and other cultivations is very pleasant. As in the entire Valley, the inhabitants are dressed with their traditional clothes; even more on market days, which is less touristic than in other places, but more authentic. There is a liveliness that crosses the entire village and its calm lifestyle.
