Day by day

day 1: Sorata Valley
In the morning, you will leave in a private vehicle by the East side of Lake Titicaca, the massif formed by the Illampu and the Ancohuma imposing itself on us with these eternal snows. The altiplano unfolds at our feet to go down into the Sorata valley (about 3 hours drive).

After lunch, visit the San Pedro cave and its magnificent crystalline lagoon.

day 2: The Illampu massif
You will get to know the villagers and our muleteer team in Sorata before attacking the ascent to the Illampu foothills.

The path takes you between the villages and its bean, corn and potato crops to the village of Lacatiya where Aymara communities live; with the snowy peaks of the Illampu at 6430 meters in front of us.

day 3: The Aymara community of Lacatiya

A day to discover the Aymara community of Lacatiya, their customs, agriculture, and livestock.

We will be able to participate in daily activities within the family and the community. The program cannot be fixed, it will depend on the season when you visit the village (harvesting plants, agricultural products, grazing llamas).

We will share the community's warm welcome, their way of life and the intelligence of their land use planning.

It is possible to make a half-day hike to the Illampu pass, to enjoy the view of the north peak (6370 meters) and the Schulze peak (5950 meters) of the Illampu.

day 4: The Chilata Lagoon
From Lacatiya the landscape becomes more and more arid, the rocks are protruding, the valley remains behind you and the mountain glaciers offer a superb panorama.

you will go up towards the Illampu lagoon at 4300 meters of altitude then you will progress on the same level curve by steep paths, where the llamas are a real help to carry the equipment.

You will arrive at the Chilata Lagoon.

day 5: The glacial lagoon
In the morning you will reach the lagoon Glaciar at more than 5000 meters of altitude which is formed by the pouring of the glacier the Illampu and Ancohuma. The view of the Sorata Valley and the mountains around it is breathtaking and offers you an unprecedented spectacle.

After lunch you will go back down to meet your team near the Chilata lagoon.

day 6: Back to La Paz
In the morning go down to Sorata. Then continuation to La Paz in a private vehicle.
