The region of Santiago, Valparaíso and the centre of the country

The Santiago region is the most densely populated area of the country, home to almost a third of Chile's 18 million people. It is also the economic and industrial heart of Chile. In addition to the capital, the region is home to the colourful and bohemian city of Valparaíso, not to mention the most famous vineyards on the continent; these sites are obviously must-sees on a trip to Chile.
