Square of May 25th

This is the main square of Sucre. Its name refers to the Commemoration Date of the Independent Movement of May 25th in 1809. There are superb gardens encircled by massive palm trees. The square has in its center a statue of the Venezuelan Antonio José de Sucre, comrade in arms of Bolivar and second president of Bolivia. It is to notice that the most important edifices of the city, like the Casa de la Libertad where the independence of the country has been signed, the department prefecture and the cathedral are located around this square.
