National park of Madidi

Created in 1995, the National Park of Madidi is located in the Amazon part, up to La Paz. The entrance is in Rurrenbaque. Since its creation, the park has several goals; above the preservation of the biological diversity of the region, the park wants to protect the cultural richness of several indigenous communities, as well as their natural environment. The purpose is also to teach to indigenous communities how to sustainably manage their natural resources. Covering an area that is largest than 1.8 million of hectares, this park houses different kinds of natural habitats, hosting an exceptional concentration of species, among the most important ones are birds, amphibians and mammals.
