Coroico

Coroico is where the named “road of death” ends. The old road going down from the high Andean lands to the Amazon rainforest, in mountainside, tortuous, claimed the lives of many. Fortunately for you (and for us), the new road, wider, is also more secure and the ancient one is kept for the rider in mountain bikes. And then, Coroico is well worth to visit. The coffee and coca cultivation dominate the local activity, thanks to a soft and humid climate of the Yungas. A peaceful place for paceños and tourists looking for a relaxing moment, the town stands on a hill and offers an amazing overview of the surrounding valleys. It is also a good transition point to join Amazon.
