Coripata

It was in 1730 that the first communities settled on this hill. Slaves coming from Africa to work in Potosi’s mines couldn't resist to altitude and cold so they have been sent to the Yungas to work in the coca leaves production. Then, during the republic period, it was a miners’ settlement who was exploiting gold from the surrounding rivers that is why they named it Coripata, the hill of gold. The small village is also the heart of great Bolivian footballers. Coripata saw the birth of great players of the national team.
