Che's road

A major attraction of Santa Cruz’s region is what we could name the "Che’s road”. As indicated in the Historic part of Bolivia, Ernesto Che Guevara, convinced hero of the Cuban and Pan-American revolution, arrives in Bolivia in 1967. But he is rapidly threatened by the Bolivian Communist Party and then, he’s captured by the CIA on October 8th, 1967, close to La Higuera, where he is executed the day after in a classroom. A statue of the revolutionary stands now at the village’s entrance. Then, his body is transported to Vallegrande, where he is exposed in the laundry of a nursery before to disappear.
